Community pharmacists and pharmacovigilance: Global overview and a case study

Abstract In this chapter, an overview of community pharmacy is presented with a special emphasis on pharmacovigilance. Patient safety is an important concern in almost all parts of the world, and the pharmacovigilance system is the key to assure the safe use of medicines. The first part of the chapter describes medicines safety and the role of the community pharmacist in pharmacovigilance. In the second part of the chapter, a case study has been presented with regards to community pharmacists’ experiences and views on pharmacovigilance.
