Weathering the storm, above and below ground : Mbombela

Strength in diversity really is a saving grace. And, it is a South African hallmark. The construction of Nelspruit's new 46 000 seat Mbombela Stadium is a wonderful example of this truth. As we all know, many factors influence a decision, be it political, business or technical. No doubt many factors and much deliberation went into determining the most optimal site for the stadium. Nonetheless, in the end, it presented a number of significant engineering challenges, two of which are water and air.
