Cognitive Components Characteristic of Somatosensory Evoked Potentials in Upper Limb Amputees with Evoked Tactile Sensation

2021
In this paper, we found that cognitive components of electroencephalogram collected from amputees were prolonged. Seven upper limb amputees and three able-bodied persons were recruited in this experiment. Each subject needs response a sequence of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation randomly generated according to the Oddball paradigm. By recording all the time-domain of event related potentials, we can find that subjects with phantom hand map have intact ERP waveform, specifically, latency of positive peak of subjects with phantom hand map has maintain $66\sim 101\text{ms}$ , which may mean those subjects is more difficult in cognitive processing than able-bodied subjects.
