Artificial intelligence techniques applied to simulation

1988
As simulation problems and the software tools with which to solve them are becoming more complex, the possibility that any individual will be readily able to apply the available range of techniques is decreasing. Also many personnel are not skilled simulationists, and require a facility containing an expert system approach to assist them in the various levels of modelling and simulation. The paper describes a prototype simulation environment which is under development at Sheffield University and is exploring the use of commercially available packages for specific parts of the integrated structure. These include: PSI for the simulation language; dBASEIII for database management; EASE+ for the user interface input; and CINEMA for simulation display and animation. >
