Confinement of electromagnetic oscillations in a dielectric microsphere coated by the frequency dispersive multilayers

Abstract The propagation of electromagnetic waves through a spherical multilayered stack is numerically studied. We assume that layers in the stack have an essential frequency dispersion of the dielectric permittivity. Our calculations show that in such a structure the electromagnetic field is almost completely confined to the layered spherical substrate.
