Isolation and Identification of Cold Active protease producing Psychrophilic Bacterium

Cold active protease producing psychrophilic organism was isolated from deep freezer in local seed industry, Nanded, Maharashtra. The organism was designated as strain PS 5 and was optimally grown at 5°.Cells of strain PS 5 were highly motile Gram negative, rod shaped. Because of its unique set of properties, especially its ability for low growth temperatures, it was thoroughly characterized and identified as psychrophilic Pseudomonas fragi .
