The purpose of this study was to develop a valid and reliable Likert type scale to identify students’ attitude towards tree and the environment. At the development process, existent scales were checked, experts’ opinions were taken, and draft scale was developed by determining attitude items. This draft scale was administered to 206 students from Clasroom Teaching, Social Sciences Teaching, Early Childhood Teaching, and Science Teaching programs at the Department of Elementary Education at Dumlupinar University. Validity and reliability of the scale were examined with the data collected from this group of students. In order to establish content validty of the scale, expert opinions were taken. Moreover, for the construct validty, the factor analysis was carried out. The results of the exploratory factor analysis showed that there were 24 positively written items explaining 60.18% of the total variance. Cronbach Aplha coefficient was found to be .91
