Synthesis and characterization of some novel 7-substitued Benzopyrano[3,4-d]imidazoles derivatives

Abstract Imidazole and coumarin are most widely used heterocyclic scaffolds which are used in synthesis of drug molecules. A series of 7-subsitituted coumarins have been synthesized by route of substitution and condensation reactions of 1 mol of 2,3-dibromodihydrocoumarines and 2 mol of urea and thiourea in ethanol as a solvent. The reactions were carried out thermally as well as by irradiation with microwave. Structure elucidation of these newly designed compounds have been confirmed by basis of IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, Mass spectral datas. This novel method involved simple experimental procedure, short time and excellent yield.
