Albeítares y herradores en la Córdoba de mediados del siglo XVIII :: Parte II: Los informes procedentes del catastro de ensenada y de los títulos de albeítares registrados en 1767

2019
As a continuation of the communication about the homes of albeitares and blacksmiths in the city of Cordoba through the Municipal Register, it is interesting to expand the study to other sources of information to address their situation in Cordoba in the mid-eighteenth century, since Those were a few years when the Albeiteria began its decline that will end with the creation of the Veterinary Schools and the birth of the Veterinary. In this second part, the analysis of data obtained from the Cadastre of Ensenada from 1754 to 1757 and the documentation referring to municipal records of albeitares titles held in Cordoba in 1767 are used. Complementary to that of the registers, both Documentary sources provide information on age, marital status, family members, pupils and profession by which they were recognized: albeitares or farring masters. The contrast is also made with the records corresponding to the fifties of the following century, already analyzed in the previous edition of the Congress. From the comparison of the data obtained from the Cadastre of Ensenada (1754 to 1757) with those of the Municipal Register of 1768, an almost total coincidence of the number of recorded albeitares is deduced, varying very little in those 10 years (21 versus 22 albeitares- blacksmiths). On the contrary, these census figures decreased in the Municipal Registry of Titles of these professionals of 1767, which was only 17. This suggests the possible irregular situation of some of the albeitares that exerted in the city of Cordoba.
