On the anodic polarization of limonene in Br− containing acetonitrile solutions on platinum electrodes
1990
Abstract Low aqueous content acetonitrile solutions of limonene and tetraethyl ammonium bromide were electrolysed at Pt anodes. Formation of 6-acetamido- p -menth-1,8-diene ( 1 ) proceeds with much lower yields than when the halide ion is Cl − . The main organic product is 1,2-dibromo- p -menth-8-ene ( 2 ) which is formed by homogeneous reaction. Other minor products, including the new molecule 8-acetamido-2,4,8-trimethyl-4-bromomethyl-3-aza-bicyclo |3.3.1| non-2-ene ( 4 ), were identified.
