Evaluation of agrarian landscape goods demand

2008
The lack of agricultural public goods valuation methodology in economic literature restricts the possibility to optimize economic regulation of agricultural public goods provision, raises the choice problems of economic regulation methods. In the latter years various methods were described by F. Nilsson, Z. Kallas, J. Lankoski, G. L. Poe, G. Pruckner, A. Randall, T. Yrjola, V. Krumalova, however there is still no widely accepted agricultural public goods evaluation methodology. Mostly used methods for agricultural public goods valuation are contingent valuation method, choice experiments, travel costs method, hedonic price analysis and conjoint analysis. If agricultural externalities and public goods could be easily measurable, there would be possible to construct rational system of agricultural public goods provision. When agricultural public goods demand and supply conditions are unknown the problems rises estimating their value and importance, similarly provided public goods extent can’t be optimal with regard to society. Provision of society‘s desirable extent of agricultural goods firstly relates with goods production and consumption factors evaluation. On the one hand methods of agricultural public goods valuation concerns with their supply in joint production with commodity, on the other hand with demand and willingness to pay for them. Agricultural public good value is often related with leisure, recreation, aesthetic value.
