Location system for a motor vehicle with a satellite receiver

1996
Disclosed is a position location system for a vehicle fitted with a satellite signal receiver (2), enabling a wrong course vector (23) to be identified. The wrong course vector (23) features a direction angle (20) comprising the main path (21) and possibly secondary paths (22) of a digitalized road map. In order to identify the actual course of the vehicle, the main path (21) and possibly the secondary paths (22) are traced with a special emphasis on the route closest to the course vector within the direction angle (20). The course vector (23) is determined on the basis of the received frequency change of the satellite, according to the Doppler method.
