Tobacco should be excluded from free trade agreement

This week the European Union and theSouth American trading bloc Mercosur willcontinue negotiations towards a free tradeagreement. We call on negotiators to placehealth before trade, by excluding tobaccofrom the agreement.Every day, doctors see the deadly effectsof tobacco. In the Doctors’ Manifesto forGlobal Tobacco Control, more than 130national medical associations united to callon governments and international bodies totake decisive action to tackle the tobaccopandemic.
