A novel technology of Sol precursor plasma spraying to obtain the ceramic matrix abradable sealing coating

Abstract In this work, the ceramic matrix abradable sealing coating of yttria-stabilized zirconia was successfully prepared with a novel technology of Sol precursor plasma spraying. Compared with the traditional SPPS technology, the deposition efficiency of Sol precursor spraying was dramatically improved. The friction coefficient of the Sol precursor coating significantly decreased, while the bond strength was increased. Additionally, the Sol precursor coating has a loose microstructure and exhibits the steadily tetragonal zirconia phase structure. The Sol precursor plasma spraying technology is an effective process that enhances deposition efficiency, and also to increases the application properties of the coating material on a large scale.
