EFFICIENCY OF ESSENTIAL OILS OF CINNAMON (Cinnamomum cassia) AND GREEN COFFEE (Coffea arabica) IN MAGGOT OF Cochliomyia hominivorax

2017
Introduction: The Cochliomyia hominivorax is popularly known as screw-worm fly, it is considered as the principal parasite that eat the living tissue of warm-blooded animals, and it is responsible to cause myasis in many kinds of animal species including the humans. Purpose: The objective of this research is study the efficiency in the larva of the C. hominivorax  of the essentials oils of cinnamon and green coffee. Methods: For this, the oil of Cinnamon cassia and Coffee arabica will be dissolved in the concentration of 0.5% and 1.0%, and will be evaluated in vitro test in larva of Cochliomya hominivorax maintained in laboratory. Each process will be tested in three stages (L1, L2 and L3), what is going to result in six repetitions for each concentration, in other words, for each test will be destined six petri dishes, two of each stage, that will have 100 larva from each stage per dish. Furthermore, it will be created six controlled groups, for duplicated, two for each stage. The percentages of effectiveness of each dilution will be calculated by comparing the means of the counts of larvae in the duplicates of the treated and control groups. The results will be exposed to the experimental delineation entirely randomized, and the variation of analyze and the measure will be compared by the TUKEY test in 5% of probability.
