Bambini migranti: alcune riflessioni a partire da percorsi italiani

2021
The paper directs an inquiring gaze at contemporary educational issues that reflect the ongoing crisis in the Western model of development and the threat to human and ecological survival posed by current world-scale phenomena and changes (such as migration, resource inequalities, and climate change). Pedagogical models and categories that are well-established in the Western world, including the notion of “active child” and empathic adult, are proving inadequate and incomplete in the face of challenges that demand fresh educational perspectives and a more active, transformative, and responsible approach on the part of adults. These themes were explored by inviting over 100 student teachers and educators to complete a questionnaire on their views about “migrant children” and related needs in the classroom.
