Mechanical performance of the grouted lapped double reinforcements anchored in embedded corrugated sleeves

2020
Abstract To study the mechanical performances of the grouted lapped double reinforcements (GLDR) anchored in embedded corrugated sleeves (ECS), the pull-out tests were carried out, including 26 groups of 52 specimens. The failure modes and the anchorage mechanism of the specimen were investigated. The anchored properties of the GLDR were analyzed considering the influence parameters of the ratio of the diameter of the corrugated sleeves to the diameter of the grouted lapped reinforcement (D/d), the lapped length (l1), and the minimum distance between outside of the ECS and the edge of the foundation (S). Experimental results indicated that the bond slip failure of the grouted lapped reinforcement, the fracture of the grouted lapped reinforcement, and the cone failure of the concrete were the main failure modes. The bond stress of the grouted lapped reinforcement was improved with the increase of the D/d or S when the slippage failure occurred in grouted lapped reinforcement. Moreover, the bond strength of the grouted lapped reinforcement increased and then became stable in a range with an increase of l1. The reinforcement fracture occurred due to the stress of the grouted lapped reinforcements reached its ultimate tensile strength when l1 ≥ 10 d. The reasonable calculation of the theoretical grouted lapped length is proposed according to the working mechanism of the grouted lapped connection.
