Jean Martin et Jean Goujon en 1545. Le manuscrit de présentation du Premier livre d'Architecture de Marc Vitruve Pollion

2005
A manuscript of presentation for the French translation of the first book of Vitruvius’ De Architectura, prior to the 1547 publication, contains twelve drawings similar to the engravings in the 1547 edition, executed after Goujon’s drawings. It is therefore probable that the drawings in the manuscript are the work of Goujon and are thus his only known drawings. The fact that the caryatids present close affinities with the tomb of Breze in Rouen and little relation to the Louvre style leads to the idea that Goujon began to work on the illustration of the Vitruvius in 1544, before his meeting with Lescot.
