Demand Avoidance Phenomena (“Pathological”/ “Extreme” Demand Avoidance): is it a Disorder at a lower diagnostic threshold?

This short conference talk sets out different competing outlooks on the proposed Disorder, Demand Avoidance Phenomena (DAP, sometimes called Pathological Demand Avoidance). The talk moves onto core features of DAP, and after discusses why DAP can be conceptualised as a separate "diagnostic entity" (Disorder), and why we should adopt a lower diagnostic threshold for PDA. Finally, I discuss future directions for DAP.
