Performance Comparison of Decision Making Methods in Network Selection

2019
A large number of decision making methods have been applied to address the problem of network selection in Heterogeneous Wireless Environment (HWE). Network selection is the process of identifying a network that provides reliable and satisfactory service to the end user. Network selection is performed in the presence of conflicting and dynamic operating conditions, by applying suitable decision making methods. However, each decision making method has a unique procedure with beneficial and non beneficial features. So, it is quite difficult to identify an appropriate decision making method for network selection process. This article investigates the performance of Multiple Attribute Decision Making (MADM) and Cost Function (CT) methods in network selection context. The performance of the methods is tested with respect to Selection Accuracy and Processing Time of the decision process.
