Genetic Diversity Analysis Based on SSR in Indica Varieties

2006
Genetic diversity between rice parents is the key role for rice breeding.Using of hybrid advantage is important to improve the output and quality of rice.Fully understanding of the genetic background of rice parents has significant meaning in guidance of choosing hybrid rice parent and exploring new genetic resource in rice.In this paper,we detected and analyzed genetic diversity between Jiafuzhan and other four candidate indica varieties by using more than 500 pairs of SSR markers. It shows that the similarity coefficient between Jiafuzhan and Minghui63,Minghui86,Zhenshan97B,and Guangluai4 is 78.1%,76.1%,72.8% and 71.7%,respectively.The similarity coefficients between Jiafuzhan and Minghui series are higher than Jiafuzhan and the rest two candidates. In general, the similarity coefficients among these 5 varieties are relatively lower, and genetic distances are relatively higher. There is high possibility to cultivate a new elite variety with distinct comprehensive superiority by hybriding Jiafuzhan with the rest varieties. At the same time,we discuss the most appropriate number of markers in genetic diversity analysis. It shows that the result of genetic diversity analysis is more reliable when the SSR interval on the chromosomes is about 10 cM or fewer.
