D.C. resistance and superperiodicity in one-dimensional incommensurate systems
1990
Abstract The Landauer formula is used to calculate the resistance of one-dimensional systems with incommensurate potentials. Near the band edges the resistance shows a regular change as the eigenenergies change. The changing rule is the same for different lengths of the sample and any wave vector Q of modulation. There is no relationship between the oscillatory period and superperiodicity in one-dimensional incommensurate systems, i.e. the resistance has no superperiodic structure. Our results differ from those of previous authors and we believe that our work is more reliable.
