Sub and super-critical extraction of oils from Moroccan oil shale with ammonia

Abstract This work is devoted to the extraction of shale oils from Moroccan oil shale (Timahdit). The optimization of extraction process was studied using the responses surface methodology. Three parameters were studied: the volume of ammonia, the reaction time and temperature. The results obtained from the experience of the matrix have been exploited to determine the optimum conditions that enable better yield extraction of oils in which they are 50 ml of ammoniac volume, 122 min of treatment time and 382 °C of temperature.
