Preparation of a high strength and high ductility Mg-6Zn alloy wire by combination of ECAP and hot drawing

Abstract A 0.31 mm-diameter Mg-6 wt% Zn alloy wire with high ultimate tensile strength of 300 MPa and elongation of 11% was successfully prepared via combination of extrusion, ECAP and hot drawing. Its excellent mechanical properties were attributed to the homogeneous and near single-phase microstructure.
