High osmolarity glycerol (HOG) pathway in Candida albicans

2010
Signal transduction pathways mediated by mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) play crucial roles in eukaryotie cells. In C.albicans,HOG-MAPK pathway is mainly involved in the regulating of morphogenesis, virulence and cellular response to external stress. The pathway is composed of two upstream osmosensing branches,i.e.,SLNl and SHO1 branches, and a downstream three-step MAP kinase cascade system.A deep insisht into the roles of HOG-MAPK pathway-associated signal transduction proteins and their regulation will offer new strategies for the prevention and treatment of candidiasis.
