2000
Abstract : ELECTRONIC FILE CHARACTERISTICS: 1 Adobe Acrobat PDF document: col. ill. PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: 1 computer laser optical disc; 4 3/4 in.; 2.3MB. SYSTEMS DETAIL NOTE: Requires CD-ROM drive. ABSTRACT: A study was conducted to determine the human factors adequacy of a 4" x 4" Color Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) and an 8" x 6" color LCD in terms of information density. A Separate "Quick Look" study looked at the ergonomics of the 4" x 4" LCDs location. The B-1B Engineering Research Simulator (ERS) was used. 10 pilots flew 9 missions with each display. The Number of Threats, software Display complexity, and Map Scale were systematically varied. Subjective Workload Assessment Technique (SWAT) scores were taken and Questionnaires were given. Conclusions and improvements were recommended.
