Preparation of NiO nanopowder by confined arc plasma

NiO nanopowders with average grain size of 22nm were prepared by confined arc plasma method and the manufacturing facility are developed by the authors. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),Transmission Electron Microscope(TEM), Selected -area Electron Diffraction(SAED), Infrared Absorption Spectrum(IR) and BET adsorption to determine the morphology, crystal structure, the specific surface area and the particle size. The results show that the samples are epigranular and fine-dispersity. Some of nanopowders are granatohedron shape. And their specific surface area is 33.9 m(2)/g.
