A Comparative Analysis between Two Additively Manufactured Microstrip Transmission Lines using Fused Filament Fabrication Method for Radio Frequency Applications

2019
Bandwidth requirement is ever increasing for radio frequency (RF) circuits in modern day applications. Due to the versatility of additively manufactured prototypes, researchers and engineers are exploring possibilities of manufacturing conductive sections of complex RF circuits by such technology. This paper presents a conductive transmission line fabricated by fused filament fabrication method. It was shown that the reported transmission line can support radio frequency signals from 100 MHz to 5 GHz that is 66.67% higher compared to a similar additively manufactured transmission line reported earlier. A comparative analysis using measurement data and verification result using a full-wave simulation is presented.
