Elasticity Evaluation of Red Blood Cell without Force Sensor under Large Deformation

2019
This paper proposes a new evaluation index of elasticity of Red Blood Cell (RBC) without any force sensor under a large deformation. In order to evaluate the elasticity of cell, usually we are obliged to prepare both force sensor and deformation sensor. It is hard to obtain the force information accurately for such a small cell like RBC, because the net force signal is buried in noise (Fig. 1). Instead of a force sensor, this paper proposes a novel method by utilizing the gravity-based water head to be released from such noise issue. The pressure resolution of the sensing system is 100mmPa corresponding to $10\mu \mathrm{m}$ water head and allows us to obtain elasticity index with a fine resolution.
