Thesis deals with the authority of university teachers. In the theoretical part is a definition of authority, including the typology. The possible ways of building a university teacher authority are discussed, also the respect and the causes of weakening of authority. A separate chapter is devoted to individuality of university teachers with regard to their qualifications and psychosocial competence. The practical part focuses on the Exploration of the authority of teachers in high school from the perspective of students. The level of authority university teacher with regard to sex, age, expertise, academic degrees was examined. The quantitative research was conducted by questionnaire among university students.
