Design and implementation of a 5.2GS/s 12-bit wideband sampling system based on TI-ADC

A high-speed high-resolution sampling system is the crucial part in measurement instruments, wideband digital receivers, and communication system. A 5.2-GS/s 12-bit wideband sampling system based on the TI-ADC technique is implemented in this paper. The dynamic performance of sampling system is seriously deteriorated by channel mismatches. Mixed method is adopted to compensate channel mismatches. The experimental results show the validity of the calibration method. This sampling system can achieve SNDR above 47dB and SFDR above 57dB for an input signal from 100MHz to 5000MHz. This article provides a high-speed and high-resolution acquisition scheme for direct intermediate frequency sampling or direct radio frequency sampling of wideband digital receivers.
