Ser ciudadano: Autoconcepto y agencia en adolescentes escolarizados de la ciudad de Cuernavaca, México

Throughout the process of democratic consolidation the participation of all social actors is important, with this the challenge of knowing the vision of those involved is exhibited. For this reason, the results of a non-experimental, transectional-descriptive study are presented. The study was aimed to characterize the self-concept of citizens of school adolescents in the city of Cuernavaca, Mexico. In addition, the level of agency is explored based on the perceived influence of citizens in government decisions. There was a sample of n = 1006 adolescents enrolled at secondary level (46.3% men and 53.7% women), having as a data collection instrument the Survey of Citizen Participation for Adolescents (EPCA); Among other results, the meaning of the citizen to have rights and obligations is highlighted, which is discussed by integrating socio-psychological frameworks and the role of the adolescent as a transforming agent is discusse.
