A central-node based coarse reconstruction mesh applied to time-domain inverse scattering

2012
In this paper we present the ongoing activities in 3D time-domain inverse scattering for biomedical applications, at University of Bristol. It is well known that 3D inverse scattering is an ill-posed nonlinear problem requiring a huge amount of computational resources. One way to reduce the computational cost is to use a coarse reconstruction mesh, which also drastically reducing the memory usage. This paper is focused on the implementation of a coarse reconstruction mesh and its impact on the image reconstruction. The method has been validated in a realistic scenario using a 3D numerical MRI based breast phantom reconstructed with different reconstruction mesh sizes.
