It is stated method for locating a mobile object (1) in which a chip-free, passive transponder (3, 31) formed by a plurality of partial surfaces (6, 7, 8, 9) is coded with different polarimetric property (of a radar station 5) is irradiated with polarized electromagnetic waves, the transponder (3, 31) or the radar station (5) on the object (1) is arranged (by the radar station 5) (at the transponder 3, 31) reflected waves are detected generated from the reflected waves, a polarization-encoded image and the transponder (3, 31) is detected on the basis of polarization-coded image, on the basis of the detected transponder (3, 31) the object (1) identified and on a current position of the identified object (1) is closed. Next, a corresponding transponder (3, 31) is specified.
