Guest Editorial Introduction to the JSTQE Issue on Advanced Photonic Modulation: Devices, Systems & Techniques

The twenty-one papers in this special section focus on advanced photonic modulation devices, systems, and techniques. Integrated light modulation in the low- or high-speed frequency regimes is central to most photonic applications, including optical telecommunications, datacom, quantum information processing, artificial intelligence, high-speed information processing such as optically enabled data converters or microwave photonics, Lidars, and sensing.
