An Efficient Algorithm in Project Management for Resource Scheduling and Conflict Management using Graph Coloring Technique

Project Management is an important topic which deals with software delivery cycles with strict deadlines and has significant financial dependencies. The industry had never been in a better situation to explore the possibilities of new ways to find out how an organization can plan projects with the available resources and optimize them as per requirement change. An organization can run multiple projects with limited resources but expects to maximize productivity by adhering to timelines. A day-to-day effort estimation or resource reallocation is a challenge without the right tool and requires actions from a Project Lead. The challenges observed in Resource and project Management have varied from developing optimized algorithms, intuitive representation of project structure, resource, and time to identify better conflict resolution techniques among others. There is further ongoing research on the selection of neighborhood nodes based on priority estimation of tasks to address the Scheduling problem. This paper proposes a novel idea using the Graph Coloring method to resolve conflicts and have a better representation of a project schedule.
