Complex bone fractures and damage can be treated with the new device. This has been widely acknowledged and statistics show that 95% of damaged or non-union joints, which were once left with no probability of recovery can now be brought back into normal rhythm. The device is miniature in size, so small that it can be implanted underneath the skin and removed when the desired effect has come into being. This has been achieved by a specific microcontroller architecture that fits in the stimulator. This takes into account the timing variations, the amount of pulse to be delivered, and the strength of the pulse. A separate timer which is usually utilized in the stimulators, poses problems in this because of the micro-circuitry needed and the time lapse. The battery is capable of supplying the required power and voltage for six months continuously unless otherwise disturbed. Usually, when bone is fractured or damaged it is provided with continuous natural electrical stimulation and takes six months to a year to heal to the original condition. Thus the battery life is stipulated to be six months. The battery can also be replaced if further necessity arises.
