Geodesic Distance in Comparison Between Tertiary Protein Structures

2018
The comparison between the two given tertiary protein structures is as imperative as that of the comparison of their functions. In literature, assorted algorithms are elaborated to compare the affinity and the disparity among the protein structures. But, these algorithms compare protein structure by structural alignment of the protein backbones which are usually unable to resolve specific differences. In this paper, an attempt has been made to compute the affinity and the disparity among the tertiary protein structures by the use of geodesic distance which is used to describe the in depth differences of the same. This kind of structural differences would give a path to the biologists to recognize the protein structures and their functions in a specific manner. This method is based on the morphological structure of the proteins, which gives a precise difference among tertiary protein structure.
