Impact of Organic Environmental Contaminants on Male Fertility

2008
The health of male reproduction is closely related with the environmental pollution which may impair male fertility by various ways, such as the damage to the morphology and function of male reproductive organs, including spormatogenesis, maturation and fertilization. In addition, the pollutants interfere with the endocrine system, semen quality and the function of spermatozoa, all that ultimately reduce the male fertility.Environmental pollutants can be classified into organic and inorganic contaminants. In the present review we will focus on how organic contmainants affect male reproduction and their main pathways. Also,we approach the problems in the evaluation of the environmental pollutants on human reproductive toxicity.
