PERCEPÇÕES DA IMAGEM CORPORAL E ESTADO NUTRICIONAL EM ESCOLARES DO INTERIOR DA BAHIA

2017
General objective: To analyze the relationship between body image perception and nutritional status in school adolescents in Jacobina-Ba. Method: This is a descriptive research, with a qualitative approach and cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 130 adolescents enrolled in Public and Private Schools in the city of Jacobina-Ba. As a tool for data collection, the Silhouette Scale of Stunkard et al. Was used to verify the body image, and the BMI (Body Mass Index), to measure the actual body image. After the Signal Testing, the G Test and the Wilcoxon Test were applied, it was observed that there was no statistical significance. Result: 64.62% of the adolescents are included in the Nutrition Status index indicated for this group, with body image distortion among 59.23% of adolescents. Among the female adolescents, the distortion was 61.28%, and among the male, 55.55%. Conclusion: There was an approximation between the male and female data, and it is possible to compare them with studies in which the prevalence for females is relatively higher if purchased for males. This approximation between body image distortion data between men and women shows that they are constructing a new look about themselves. In this way, the data found may help Physical Education teachers in interventions that may contribute to better body image acceptance among adolescents.
