Development of a multicolour super-twisted-nematic display

Abstract The development of a multicolour super-twisted-nematic display is described. The double-layered STN mode is the most suitable mode for the realization of a multicolour STN display. The structure of the proposed multicolour STN display is explained from the viewpoint of achieving good colour reproducibility. An important point is the surface flatness of the micro colour filters used in the display. A prototype model is proposed and described.
