Analysis of antigenic characteristics of antigens from different developmental stages of Taenia pisiformis

2012
To analyze the protein components and their immunogenicity in adult, larva and egg of Taenia pisiformis,4-8 protein bands ranging from 30.4 to 114.9 ku were observed in SDS-PAGE gel.Rabbits were infected orally with the eggs in gravid proglottid secreted from the dogs that were experimentally infected with different numbers of Taenia pisiformis.Circulating antibody form rabbits experimentally infected with Cysticercus pisiformis were monitored by ELISA weekly. The antibody titers were raising from week 2 post-infection and reached the peak on week 7 post-infection.Thirteen antigens with molecular weight of around 59.4 ku were recognized by positive serum against Cysticercus pisiformis in Western-blot.Presence of cross reactions was found between Coenurus cerebralis and Cysticercus pisiformis. The molecular weights of the characteristic antigens was 32.7 ku,59.4 ku,78.7 ku and 81.1 ku,respectively. The 59.4 ku protein is a promising vaccine candidate for cysticercosis pisiformis prevention.
