High-Gain Broadband Dual-Polarized Antenna with Meta-Surface

2020
A high-gain dual-polarized antenna with metasurface is developed for base station applications. The proposed antenna is composed of two dipoles and a phase gradient metasurface. The meta-surface and a parasitic element are introduced to achieve gain enhancement. They also reduce the profile height of the antenna, and improve the input impedance matching for the dual-polarized dipoles. The operating frequency band for VSWR $\lt2$ is 1.68 to 2.86 GHz, which covers the 2G/3G/4G (LTE) frequency bands. A port isolation larger than 30 dB is also achieved between the two polarized port. The gain of the antenna is larger than 9.38 dBi over the operating frequency band. A stable 3dB beam width of $59.7^{\circ} \pm 1^{\circ}$ and a low cross-polarization levels less than -34.6 dB is achieved.
