Field and temperature dependence of remanent magnetization in a single crystal of Bi2Sr2CaCu2Oy

1992
We report the studies of the virgin and remanent magnetization in a single crystal of Bi{sub 2}Sr{sub 2}CaCu{sub 2}O{sub {ital y}} over a wide range of fields and temperatures. Based on the critical-state model, the field and temperature dependence of the magnetization can be well understood. The first and second penetration fields have been estimated, based upon the measurements of the magnetization in a single crystal of Bi{sub 2}Sr{sub 2}CaCu{sub 2}O{sub {ital y}}. Also discussed are flux pinning, applications of the critical-state model, and related issues in this material.
