A mold for making a hollow skin covered foamed plastic article

The mold e.g. for molding a vehicle seat cushion, includes a middle mold (14) attached to an upper mold (13) such that when the upper mold (13) is lifted upwards from the lower mold (12), the middle mold also moves upwards, after lost motion of upper mold (13) along support rods (14a), carrying the skin covered foamed plastic article from the lower mold, together with a protrusion (14c, 16) for making a hollow region in the skin covered foamed plastic article, and comprising a part (14c) attached to the middle mold part (14) and a part (16) detachably located e.g. at (16b), on the lower mold, such that when the upper mold is lifted from the lower mold, the protrusion (16) is taken off the lower mold along with the skin covered foamed plastic article. A pair of the parts (16, 14) are provided, to form hollows (26, Fig. 3) for a head rest stay in the cushion.
