Complicações decorrentes de cirurgia bariátrica em adultos jovens

2021
Objective: To analyze the scientific literature on complications resulting from bariatric surgery (CB) in young adults. Literature review: The performance of CB has been growing, thus also its post-surgical complications that occur more frequently. CB has been shown to be the most effective treatment for obesity. Among them, weight loss, reduced comorbidities, and increased life expectancy can be highlighted. However, like any operation, bariatric surgery presents risks and must be monitored by physicians during the pre- and postoperative periods, the risks of complications must be considered, such as anastomotic leakage, bleeding, abdominal abscess, intestinal obstruction, anastomotic strictures, acute gastric dilatation and ''medical complications'' such as thromboembolism, cardiovascular or pulmonary complications. Final considerations: Patients undergoing BC have higher risk of developing nutritional deficiencies due to the restriction in consuming different nutrients, thus having a great importance in nutritional surveillance after surgery. Therefore, surgical indications for the treatment of obesity are debatable and need to be guided according to the need that fits the profile of each case.
