Influence of different annealing process on microstructure and mechanical properties of H13 steel

2012
The influence of three different annealing process(subcritical annealing, isothermal annealing and slow cooling annealing) on microstructure and mechanical properties of H13 steel was investigated by metallographic microscope and SEM.The results show that after subcritical annealing, carbides grain size is minimum, while after slow cooling annealing, carbides grain size is larger and the annealed hardness is lower. The isothermal annealing and slow cooling annealing are propitious to homogeneity of carbides,at the same time, the improvement of homogeneity of carbides also has some good effect on annealed and quenched-tempered impact toughness of H13 steel, however nonmetallic inclusions and primary carbides restrict the improvement of toughness of H13 steel.
