How Migrant Cultures Emerge: The Role of Push Factors

2021
The push migration factors play an important role in the emergence of the culture of migration. This chapter provides an overview of the push and pull theory, and looks at the dual labour market theory. Focusing on the push migration factors, the chapter highlights the list for emigration push factors, which are widely analysed in the scientific literature such as wages and income inequality, personal life conditions, prices, wish for changes, family reasons, taxes, unemployment, low level of economic development, study and education system, social and environmental conditions, the level of health care, intolerance of personal attitudes, discrimination, negative emotional state, pessimism, political situation and views. Thus, the chapter reveals the push migration factors, representing the economic and non-economic situation of the country of origin.
