A Dual-slot Coupled Multiple Dense Dielectric Patch Antenna With Wide Bandwidth

A wideband dual-slot coupled multiple dense dielectric (DD) patch antenna is proposed. Five modes including two modes (quasi-TM 11 mode and quasi-TM 21 mode) of DD patches and three modes of the dual slots can be obtained to achieve the wide bandwidth. In addition, the proposed antenna has the features of relatively high gain with a finite ground size when compared with the reported design. For demonstration, one prototype operating at 8.98 GHz is fabricated, which achieves the 10-dB impedance matching bandwidth of 81.9%, the peak gain of 9.27 dBi and the ground size of $0.63\ \lambda_{0}\times 0.78\ \lambda_{0} (\lambda_{0}$ is the wavelength in the free space at the center frequency).
