Congestion control based on node and link in wireless sensor network

A novel congestion controller is designed to restrain both the node-congestion and link-congestion in the wireless sensor network. The multiple model adaptive controller is adopted to combine the node model and the link model together, whose weight is calculated on-line. Two ‘local’ controller are PI controller for the node-congestion and sliding mode variable structure controller for the link-congestion. Simulation results indicate that the proposed controller improves the quality of service in wireless sensor network and maintains a high throughput together with a low packet drop ratio.
